Centre for Software Assurance

New Publications Available   Poster Released

Mission

The goal of the centre is to provide an environment for research, development and consulting on issues related to software assurance. The School of Information Technology has conducted research in some of the areas described earlier. The centre will build on this work and maintain close ties with researchers (both academic and industry) as well as consumers who need software assurance and practitioners who provide assurance related services. This will enable it to keep abreast of the latest developments, develop new techniques, and disseminate the findings to the consumer.

The centre will concentrate on the development of assurance mechanisms that can guide the developer as well as be used by independent assessors. Topics for further research and development will include

  • Sound models to describe software behaviour
  • Sound engineering principles for developers
  • User driven techniques for examining behaviour
  • Models for describing impact of errors in the context of system behaviour
  • Build prototypes that demonstrate the validity of the models
